🌸 Two Worldviews: The Bible and Hindu Teachings – A Simple Comparison for Seekers

Many people in India grow up with Hindu traditions and deep spiritual questions. The Bible also speaks to these questions. Below is a simple comparison of how the Bible’s revelation and Hindu thought view life, God, and salvation.

🕉️ 1. Who is God?

  • Bible View: There is one personal God who made the universe. He reveals the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is holy, full of love, and desires a relationship with us. He revealed Himself by saying, “I AM WHO I AM,” showing that He is eternal and unchanging.
  • Hindu View: There are many gods and goddesses. Behind them is one divine force called Brahman—the spiritual reality behind everything.

“The Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King.” — Jeremiah 10:10

🌏 2. How Did the World Begin?

  • Bible View: God created the world with purpose and beauty. History is moving toward a goal, not a cycle.
  • Hindu View: The world goes through endless cycles—creation, destruction, and rebirth.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
According to contemporary Astronomical observations, the most widely supported theory about the origin of the universal is the Big Bang Theory, which posits that the universe began approximately 13.8 billion years ago as an incredibly hot and dense point that rapidly expanded. (Divine Genesis by Dr. D. C. Kim p.19)

🙏 3. Who Are We?

  • Bible View: We are created in God's image—not God—but made for relationship with Him. We are valuable, but broken by sin.
  • Hindu View: Our true self (Atman) is divine. It is part of Brahman. But we are stuck in the cycle of rebirth (samsara).

“God created mankind in His own image.” — Genesis 1:27

⚖️ 4. What Is the Problem in Life?

  • Bible View: The root problem is sin—turning away from God. Sin brings separation, suffering, and death.
  • Hindu View: We suffer because of karma—results of our past actions. Our ignorance keeps us bound.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

✨ 5. How Can We Be Saved or Set Free?

  • Bible View: We can never save ourselves. God came to us in Yeshu (Jesus). He gave His life to free us. Salvation is a gift—we receive it through faith in Yeshu. Yeshu opened the way to salvation by offering His body for our sins once for all.
  • Hindu View: We must work toward moksha—freedom from rebirth—through good works (karma), knowledge (jnana), devotion (bhakti), or spiritual practice (yoga).

“By grace you have been saved through faith—it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

⛅ 6. What Happens After Death?

  • Bible View: We live once, then face judgment. Those who trust Yeshu receive eternal life with God.
  • Hindu View: We are reborn again and again until we reach moksha.

“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” — Hebrews 9:27

📖 7. Sacred Writings

  • Bible View: The Bible is God’s Word. It is one unified story of God’s love, fulfilled in Yeshu. It is a record of God’s work in human history.
  • Hindu View: Many ancient texts—Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, and more—offer wisdom and paths to God.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

❤️ 8. Is God Personal? Does He Love Me?

  • Bible View: God is deeply personal. He became human in Yeshu (Jesus), showed His love on the cross, and invites us to know Him.
  • Hindu View: Some see God as impersonal, some worship Him through devotion (bhakti) with love.

“God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” — John 3:16
